Celtic vs Morton: Preview, predicted XI and bets

It was another poor performance during the week against Dundee as Aberdeen managed to capitalise on a bore 0-0 draw at Celtic Park. This season has had more downs than ups and the football we are witnessing isn’t of great standard.

However, as stated by numerous already, Celtic are still top of the league by 4 points and have got a double to win. The fans need to support the team to see them securing both trophies. That starts on Sunday as Celtic play in the Scottish Cup against Greenock Morton.

Celtic go into the match with no fresh injury worries. Nir Bitton is still a doubt after missing the last couple of matches with a knock. Jozo Simunovic is the only player who remains out longer term with a knee injury.

Greenock Morton’s striker Paul McMullan misses out as he cant play against his parent club.

PREDICTED XI

Although it’s a game against lower league opposition, I don’t expect we will see too many changes in the team. Celtic need results now and Ronny will go with a fairly strong team. Bailly will come in for Gordon in goals. Ahead of him in defence it’ll remain the same. Boyata is free to play as it’s in the Scottish Cup.

The two holding midfielders will be Johansen and Brown in the continued absence of Bitton. Mulgrew played against Dundee but suspect he will drop down to the bench again.

Along the front three of midfield is where we could see some changes. Roberts and Rogic both started against Dundee midweek and I expect them both to continue here. They’ll be joined by Scott Allan and Armstrong will drop to the bench. It would be a good game to start Allan, Roberts and Christie, but I can’t see that happening just yet.

Up front, as ever it will be Leigh Griffiths. There’s nobody who will put him out of the team anytime soon. He’s the main man and it’s worrying to think where Celtic would be without him. Just to finish, where is Carlton Cole?

PREVIEW

Celtic have won their last 9 matches against Morton in the Scottish Cup. Morton’s last win was back in March 1948.

Morton are aiming to reach the Scottish Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1980/81.

Celtic have won 5 of their last 6 matches at Celtic Park in all competitions, drawing the other with Dundee midweek.

Morton’s last 3 matches away from home have seen them drawing, losing and winning. Their last win came in a 3-0 victory against Hibs.

BETTING TIPS

The last few matches haven’t been great for bets. The team haven’t been performing therefore bets are extremely difficult to succeed. Just the one for this game as below:

Leigh Griffiths to score 2 or more goals at 11/10.

Good luck.
